Places to See on your 2 Days From Fes to Chefchaouen
Chefchaouen, blue pearl
Chefchaouen is a pleasant and small town located in the middle of the Rif mountains in Morocco with a rich history. This old town is known for its beautiful surroundings and its architecture, but what sets it apart is the vibrant and varied shades of the blue walls – it is a variety of soothing shades of blue that reduce blood pressure in seconds.
Moulay Ali Iben Moussa founded the town of Chefchaouen in 1471. It began as a small fortress to combat the Portuguese invasions of Morocco. The Ghomara, Moorish, and Jewish tribes settled there after the Spanish reconquest in 1492. Later, in 1920, Spain conquered the old city and became part of Spanish Morocco. Then, finally, Morocco declared its independence in 1956, and Chechnya was reinstated once again.
Volubilis, Roman ruins.
Volubilis is one of the best preserved Roman ruins of Morocco located between the imperial cities of Fez and Meknes in a fertile plain surrounded by wheat fields. Founded before the Christian era, at a time when the region was part of Mauritania, Volubilis was considered the administrative center of the Kingdom of Mauritania and also One of the most remote cities of the Roman Empire, located in the southwest.
Meknes
Meknes is one of the imperial cities with Fes, Marrakech, and Rabat. It is the least known and touristy of the four, but this does not make it less attractive. It is located in central Morocco, on a plateau at the foot of the Atlas Mountains.
During the reign of Moulay Ismail, it was the capital of the country, and palaces and walls of luxury were built. It was also called the Versailles of Morocco.
