Morocco’s largest City ( Casablanca )
Morocco’s largest city and economic capital, and the third most populous city in Africa after Lagos and Cairo, was formerly known as Anfa until the Portuguese called it Casa Branca after finding a white house in the 16th century, The Spanish called it the White House. The Moroccans called it “House”, whose architecture reflects the Arab and Islamic civilization and the effects of contemporary engineering.
Casablanca declines slightly on the tourism list compared to the strange charm of Marrakech and Fass, but still enjoys many tourist destinations that guarantee its visitor’s varied experiences.
In this article, we will explore the best tourist places to visit in Casablanca:
1-Hassan II Mosque:
On the beach, behind the northern tip of Casablanca (the Old City), Hassan II Masjid dominates the entire city.
Completed in 1993, it is the world’s second-largest mosque, covering an area of 2 hectares with the world’s tallest minaret (200 meters high).
The prayer hall accommodates about 25,000 worshippers, while the courtyard (featuring a retractable roof) can accommodate about 80,000 more people.
The mosque provides an opportunity for Muslims to pray on a glass floor, giving them a unique feeling of prayer just above the sea.
The decoration is surprisingly complex and covers every centimeter of the roof. Non-Muslims can take guided tours of the mosque. Everyone is invited to enjoy the beautiful architecture at any time.
2-Old City:
Although the Old City area of Casablanca may not have such a strange vibe as the cities of Fez and Marrakech, finding maze-like alleyways still hides much to discover.
Merchants are singling out their wares there, and shoppers can be joined in their search for traditional requirements, a great place to experience the pulse of Casablanca’s life.
Bab Marrakech, one of the historic monuments still standing in the ancient city of Casablanca, can also be visited.
The visitor may find small landmarks buried in the Old City, such as the Berber Mosque.
3-Mohammed V Square:
The central square of Casablanca is home to many important official buildings in the city, including the Palace of Justice, the prefecture, and the French consulate.
There are beautiful architectural buildings within close proximity of the square. The square also hosts the statue of Marshal Liaotti, Morocco’s first French general resident from 1912 to 1925.
The plaza experienced rehabilitation during the 1960s when a fountain was added to the plaza.
The fountain, as well as the wonderful gardens, added beauty to the arena and increased its attraction to visitors, especially in the evening.

It is a modern enough center to entertain anyone from families to couples and to spend the entire day.
At the mall, you find a wide range of shops, anything from H&M to Dior, and you can also choose from a wide range of food options.
Morocco Mall also hosts a full indoor aquarium with a small shark, a fountain display outside, and even ice skating inside with fairgrounds.

The museum is the first museum in the Arab world to portray the influence of Judaism as a social culture that contributes to the history of the Maghreb and provides insight into the history, religion, traditions, and daily life of Jews in Moroccan civilization.

The museum not only illustrates the Jewish influence on Moroccan society but also highlights the history of interfaith coexistence in Moroccan civilization.
